The airline will operate the route twice-weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays to Dubai World Central Airport, where it became the first airline to operate flights to the UAE airport.
The regional airline closed its doors at 12:00 Noon on May 22, 2015 after operating flights that morning between Vilnius and Amsterdam, Paris and Tallinn. It is the latest in a long line of airline failures in Lithuania, which is proving to be among Europe’s most difficult country markets to serve.
The airline will base a new Airbus A320 at the airport which is already served by Wizz Air flights, making Debrecen the airline’s second Hungarian airport with base operations.

Central and Eastern European low-cost airline specialist, Wizz Air, will slightly modify its existing model by introducing a second aircraft type to its fleet later this year. While maintaining the one fleet family concept, the budget carrier has switched 26 of its outstanding orders for the A320, for the larger A321 variant and will place the first aircraft into service in the last quarter of this year.
Although low-cost carrier Wizz Air has a major base in Budapest it believes there is sufficient demand to offer schedules from Debrecen, despite being just two hours away from the capital city by road.

The airline will introduce a twice weekly connection between Budapest and Bologna from June 5, 2015 and a twice weekly link between Budapest and Glasgow from June 13, 2015. The latter service has been partly driven by recent surveys in which Hungarian consumers listed Scotland on top of their wish list for future routes from the carrier.
Europe’s largest low-cost airline for Central and Eastern Europe will commence flights between the two cities from June 15, 2015, operating twice weekly.

Wizz Air made its debut in the Macedonian market in June 2011 when it launched flights to Skopje from London Luton, subsequently adding flights from Treviso Sant'Angelo in September the same year. The network was boosted to seven destinations in October 2012 and to its current 14 destinations from April 2014.
The new route, which will launch on a twice weekly basis from June 19, 2015, is the latest in a series of moves by the budget airline to reinforce its position as the largest operator in Gdansk and will be the only direct flight between Aberdeen and Poland.
The low-cost carrier has announced new services from its Budapest base to Hurghada on the East coast of Egypt and Alghero in Sardinia, Italy, for the summer 2015 season.
The budget airline will station a single Airbus A320 in Tuzla in June 2015 to open four new routes to Munich Memmingen and Oslo Torp, from June 26, 2015, and Frankfurt Hahn and Stockholm Skavsta from June 28, 2015.
