IndiGo’s 71st domestic destination, Ryanair’s winter expansion from Naples, and Avianca’s new Mexican service from Costa Rica’s capital San Jose are among the latest route announcements and services resuming.
With COVID-19 travel restrictions easing in parts of the world, airlines are gradually rebuilding their networks. Routes analyzes some of the services returning as well as new routes being launched. This week we look at LOT restarting an Asian route, Air Belgium launching a winter sun service and a boost for Toronto.
This week: Qatar Airways is to launch a new service to Gaborone in Botswana; Wizz Air is adding a third destination in Russia; and Air Belgium is to resume scheduled flights.
Air Belgium has cancelled plans to resume its Hong Kong service, but the start-up has vowed to begin routes two destinations in mainland China this summer and hopes to begin flights to the Americas by next winter.
Fresh from completing its inaugural flight earlier this month, Air Belgium is already looking to spread its wings by adding the US to its route network.
The start-up is to delay its first flight to Hong Kong, scheduled to take off on 30 April, because it has not yet received permission to fly through Russian airspace.
