The airline’s long-haul strategy has historically centered on Asia, but with a slow recovery on the horizon, the Nordic carrier is temporarily shifting its long-haul network focus to North America.
More routes are returning to Delta Air Lines’ long-haul network during the upcoming winter and summer seasons, but some destinations like Mumbai and Osaka are not currently scheduled to resume.
Twenty airports and destinations have been recognised by the airline network planning community for their outstanding marketing achievements over the past twelve months.
This week: EVA Air is to resume flights between Taipei Taoyuan and Nagoya in Japan; WestJet is to launch a new daily summer service to Dublin; and Norwegian unveils plans to enter the Brazil market.
The shortlists for the prestigious Routes Asia 2018 Marketing Awards have been revealed, with 22 airports and destinations recognised for their exceptional marketing services.
The new routes will support the growing demand for travel between Japan and Manila, a popular year-round destination with a wide selection of shopping, leisure activities as well as vibrant arts, entertainment and gaming. The flights are also expected to meet demand from Japanese travellers, and Filipino expatriates residing in Japan as well as Filipino holiday-makers or those visiting family members.
The new business will operate from a base at Chubu Centrair International Airport in Aichi prefecture to Shin-Chitose Airport in Sapporo, Sendai Airport in Sendai as well as to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport in Taipei. Alongside its previous experiences at the facility, AirAsia Group currently serves the airport with its AirAsia X long-haul business from Kuala Lumpur.
