Norwegian will launch flights from both Denver International Airport and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to London’s Gatwick Airport this September. With these additions, Norwegian now offers nine non-stop routes from across the United States to London, serving more city pair markets than any US airline.
Denver International Airport were announced as the overall winner of the Routes Americas edition of the Routes 2017 Marketing Awards which were formally announced during the Networking Evening event which took place in Las Vegas, USA.
Mexican airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico has been attending Routes events for more than ten years and places a big emphasis on the role of relationships within the route development process including utilising the ‘city pair’ meeting offering with great success.
US major, United Airlines will introduce a daily service on the route from April 5, 2016 using a 76-seat Embraer E175 configured with United First, Economy Plus, and Economy seating options. This will be the longest route (1,482 miles) and most westerly flight originating from Richmond International Airport, the busiest airport in central Virginia.
Denver International Airport has had a strong year post hosting Routes Americas and recently announced the return of an important European hub link to Munich with Lufthansa. Earlier this month it announced record traffic with the busiest September in Denver aviation history.
The hosting of this year’s Routes Americas forum helped support Denver International Airport in securing the return of the German carrier’s Munich link. It was the first time that the German carrier had attended the regional event with delegates Daniel Pauli, Manager Network Planning Hub Munich and Stephan Vinson, Hub Development Frankfurt providing representation for its growth strategy at its two hub airports.

Building on the success of this year’s event, which provisional figures suggest welcomed over 650 delegates, 45 per cent growth year-on-year, Routes Americas 2016 will take place between February 7-9, 2016 in San Juan. The event, which is the route development forum for the entire Americas region, will be hosted by Puerto Rico Tourism Company with the support of their partners Aerostar Airport Holdings LLC and MeetPuertoRico.

According to data from OAG Schedules Analyser, Southwest Airlines has more than doubled its departure capacity from Colorado's largest air gateway between 2008 and 2014 to hold a 27.1 per cent share of available departure seats last year.
According to data from OAG Schedules Analyser, overall departure seat capacity from DEN increased 0.9 per cent from 30.79 million annual seats in 2013 to 31.05 million seats last year. This return to growth followed declines of 0.9 per cent in 2011, 0.6 per cent in 2012 and 2.4 per cent in 2013.
