With only 110 daily flights to Cuba on offer, some of the biggest players in the US market are fighting for the coveted spots. Thirteen carriers will go head to head for the slots, with American Airlines leading the requests, hoping to cater to the vast Cuban-American population of Miami
The airline, founded in 2010, has launched a route from Los Angeles International Airport to Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This direct service will tap into a growing market that has been unserved since 2014.
The launch of the route has been supported by aviation consultancy ASM, part of UBM Live, which highlighted the opportunity to serve the Guyana – New York market to the US operator and brokered the deal on behalf of Cheddi Jagan International Airport.
