Finnair’s new codeshare agreement with Turkish Airlines, flydubai adding a second destination in Romania, and PLAY’s Amsterdam launch plans are among the latest new route announcements and services resuming.
Back for its second year, TakeOff, the air service development event designed for smaller airports in the USA, will take place in Orlando/Sanford, Florida from 28-29 October 2019.
Orlando Sanford is only the second US airport currently served by Surinam Airways, adding to its historical flights into Miami, a destination it now serves non-stop from Aruba, Georgetown and Paramaribo. It introduced its flights between Guyana and Orlando Sanford in July 2015 and operated schedules again in summer 2016, although no non-stop availability is currently displayed for summer 2017.
This marks the return of the two routes after a four year absence and will be the only direct long-haul services to be offered from Bristol Airport. The move is part of the holiday company’s strategy to ensure customers across its home UK market can fly more easily from their local airports.
The new passenger operation will launch in December 2015 and will grow to a five destination network by the middle of January 2016. All the flights will be operated using a 184-seat Boeing 757-200 and National has partnered with Tourico Holidays to package flights with hotels, rental cars, cruises, activities, vacation homes and more alongside its seat-only offering.
The carrier has traditionally focused almost exclusively on connecting small and medium-sized cities to its focus airports located mostly in leisure destinations across the United States. However, this latest expansion continues a recent trend of introducing flights into larger markets.
Allegiant Air will introduce flights between New Orleans and Cincinnati’s Northern Kentucky International Airport from February 4, 2015 and Rickenbacker International Airport in Columbus, Indianapolis International Airport and Orlando’s Sanford International Airport from February 5, 2015.
