Japan Airlines’ new low-cost carrier ZIPAIR Tokyo is planning to begin service to Hawaii before the end of the year ahead of opening routes to other destinations in the US.

The airline has already announced numerous new routes for 2016 and additional capacity in some of its existing markets, but is attending Routes Asia in Manila, Philippines to seek alternative growth destinations. This will mainly cover the North and South East Asia markets, which it has earmarked as offering the best opportunities for sustainable development.
The new arrangement will initially debut in the final quarter and will enter service from December 1, 2015 on both the Dubai – Bangkok and Dubai – Copenhagen routes, and will also serve Dubai – Kuala Lumpur and Dubai – Manchester from January 1, 2016.

Lufthansa’s low-cost subsidiary Eurowings has announced its plans to start long-haul services from October 25, 2015, with flights initially departing from Cologne/Bonn Airport.
The airline plans to expand its services to include a thrice weekly rotation between Hong Kong and Yancheng, in the Northeastern Jiangsu province, China. The two hour ten minute flight will be operated by the airline’s Airbus A320 aircraft, and will operate on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday from March 31, 2015.
The Tokyo Narita – Kuala Lumpur flight will return to the ANA network from September 1, 2015 and will be flown on a daily basis by a Boeing 787-8. It will compete directly with AirAsia X, Japan Airlines and Malaysia Airlines on the route, with indirect competition also coming from AirAsia X through its Tokyo Haneda – Kuala Lumpur link.
