The US Transportation Department said China’s cancellation of 44 flights operated by US airlines is inconsistent with the US-China air services accord.

Xiamen Airlines is significantly expanding its international presence following the arrival of its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet. Over a three year period (2015 -2017) it plans to introduce seven new long-haul markets to its network. This has commenced with flights starting to Amsterdam and Sydney last year. Alongside Vancouver the airline plans flights to Melbourne and Seattle in 2016 and it has recently applied for rights to serve Los Angeles and New York from 2017.
As part of its growth into international markets following the introduction of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner into its fleet, Xiamen Airlines will introduce direct flights to Sydney from two new mainland markets. A three times weekly link from Fuzhou will commence from November 30, 2015, while a twice weekly service from Xiamen will follow from December 6, 2015, both subject to final government approval.
The airline recently received permission from Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) to launch the route between Gaoqi International Airport in Xiamen and Amsterdam Schiphol, but has yet to open reservations while it waits for European aviation authorities approve the route.
