Fifteen of the top 20 fastest-growing major airports in the world by passenger numbers are located in Asia, new research by Routesonline has found, with the main gateway to Cambodia’s bustling capital city taking the top spot.
Airports in China and India accounted for ten of the top 20 fastest-growing major airports in the world during the first-half of the year, highlighting the growing dominance of the countries as aviation powerhouses. Research by Routesonline has also ranked the leading airports by total passengers added during the period, with the US featuring strongly.
China is set to become the world’s largest aviation market within the next five years so it is unsurprising that the country’s airports are leading the way when it comes to annual passenger growth. Routesonline analyses the fastest-growing major airports in the world, with more than half of the top 20 in China alongside counterparts in Europe, the Middle East and the Caribbean.
