Prior to taking on her current role, Jen was Aviation Week's Congressional Editor. Jen came to Aviation Week in March 2011 from Politico, where she covered the intersection of defense and politics. She also worked as a reporter and editor for Defense Daily, Inside the Army, The Other Paper and The Columbus Dispatch.
Jen received a Master’s degree in journalism as a Kiplinger Fellow at the Ohio State University. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in history and journalism from the University of Michigan.
If Congress continues to fund the government at fiscal 2012 levels for all of fiscal 2013, the U.S. Air Force’s plan for the block purchase of Space Based Infrared System (Sbirs) satellites is in doubt, according to an Air Force background paper.
The Senate Armed Services Committee will meet Feb. 12 at 2:30 p.m. to discuss what has become an extraordinarily controversial nomination of former Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.) for defense secretary. Across-the-board budget cuts beginning March 1 could squeeze NASA funding by $14 billion over the next eight years, according to a report by Democrats on the House Appropriations Committee. A “constraint” in the bill that imposes sequestration mandates that funding for the Census Bureau follow its traditional pattern, the report says. The census is funded at low levels during the early years of the decade and higher levels later as the next census deadline draws near.
