He was named the country’s top travel and air transport writer by the Travel Industry Club three times. Jens graduated from the Munich School of Journalism.

Boeing yesterday signed off on an order for 30 787s and 30 737-800s with Japan Airlines, and the manufacturer also completed a firm order with GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS) for six 737-700s that will be operated by Sky Europe.

EADS is expected to announce the new CEO of Airbus at its annual shareholders meeting tomorrow. EADS CFO Hans Peter Ring said in a conference call that to date no final decision has been made. Eurocopter CEO Fabrice Bregier has been a favorite, but the issue of who will be leading Airbus could still lead to a spectacular showdown at tomorrow's event.

Austrian regional carrier Styrian Spirit expects its profits in 2005 to significantly exceed last year's level, the airline said last week. Styrian is optimistic, as passenger numbers in the first quarter rose more than 50% to 37,000. The airline in 2004 posted a EUR400,000 profit on EUR26.9 million in sales. This year, it expects to carry 200,000 passengers and plans to post a EUR1 million (US$1.3 million) profit.
