The Model V360 is a single-width, 6U VME module designed to acquire low frequency inputs from industrial sensors to measure speed, frequency or rpm. Configurable differential inputs to eight channels measure pulse periods over a wide dynamic range with 20-nanosec. resolution. The module's programmable noise filtering and direct input connections reduce signal interference and simplify test set-up and monitoring in noisy environments.
Single-engine turboprop cargo carriers would be permitted to operate under night and instrument conditions in Europe, under a proposal now being considered by Europe's Joint Aviation Authorities--a change that would be significant for carriers serving smaller communities.
An exhaustive new Rand appraisal of information warfare says the Pentagon has tended to view new technologies in terms of how they can improve mission capabilities, rather than how they influence decision-making. Titled The Changing Role of Information in Warfare, the Air Force-backed study concludes that cyberwar may be less a matter of missions than a new way of thinking about conflict.

Russia's new plan to leave the Mir space station in orbit for at least half a year without a crew (see p. 32) is generating suspicion on Capitol Hill.
